J. Christopher White’s sculptures, lovingly carved from West Texas juniper, are honored in this book. White uses dead-standing or fallen West Texas juniper, which can live to be 2,000 years old and only grows in the panhandle. He uses hand tools to carve his sculptures—each cut revealing golden-colored heartwood under the weathered gray exterior.
