Welcome To Cheryl Campbell's Biography

The carvings submitted to this gallery show the progression of my skills from my first carving (eagle) to my most recent. I started carving in 2003, learning skills from carver Brian Johnson that hold me in good stead today. I've tried hard to create my own style and stretch my capabilities in some way with each carving. I've tried different finish techniques to preserve and bring out the beauty inherent in even the most common wood species, and study the animal form to animate the carving as much as I can. I have a long way to go, and it will be a pleasure taking the path that leads me toward improvement. Although originally from Nebraska, I have lived in the small town of Rhinelander, WI for 13 years now, with my husband Tom and little Springer Spaniel, Lena. It is my hope to retire in 3 years and make carving my full time occupation.
